Details:

This was not my original April Stash Yarn Challenge yarn, but because the two skeins that I did pull were purchased to do a shawl and I already was working on a 2 skein fingering weight shawl for my upcoming pattern, I didn’t want to do a second. So this yarn was in my stash even longer and is more yardage, so I made the executive decision to sub it in.My challenge, my rules. 😉

I’ve had these Wonderland Yarns since at least 2018. I’m warping with the full skein and using the minis as weft. I thought I’d make a wrap, but my yardage calculations (such as they were…in my head) were quite off and so I’m pivoting and making a series of mats (not so much placemats, as they’ll be rather large for that) instead. I like how it’s turning out so far though!

I did improvise a system of dowels (using yard sticks for a couple of them) that tensioned my warp so that I could roll it onto the back beam without anyone else helping me. That worked incredibly well! I was amazed.

7/9 – I’m hibernating this while I’m working on Ashton’s blanket and my TdF spinning.

8/4/ – The blanket is finished so this is going back into active project status.

11/10 – I still haven’t touched this, and while it is sitting in plain sight in the dining room, I’m hibernating it again until I get some other projects done that are of a more timely nature. Also, this won’t count for the PSP, and that’s where my mind is right now!

2/11/24 – This project has been sitting dormant all this time. Yesterday, I decided to bang out the rest of this baby. Literally wove the rest of this infernal warp between yesterday and today. I did whatever I felt like since my original plan went by the wayside long ago. As it turned out, I still had more warp left than I was willing to trash once I was done with the weft yarn, so I pulled some pink and aqua blue out of scrap stash and finished the warp with that. It literally used every last bit, so if nothing else, I used ALL of the yarn and then some that I set out to use for this project.

It’s cut off the loom now (and I was very happy that past Lisa hem stitched the beginning edge back at the beginning…go her!) but I haven’t really taken a good look at the fabric. I’ll look tomorrow. Tonight, I’m just glad to call it a finished project.
