I have a ton of yarn left over from my grandson’s blanket earlier this year, I thought I’d make a hat for him in college team colors. I don’t know that he’s a big hat wearer, but it gets cold in Charlotte, so I figure it can’t hurt to have a hat to throw on if he needs it!
I am going to look for a pattern of some sort, though I need to keep it fairly simple. He’s not a fru-fru fancy guy.
11/25 – Modifying this to work with worsted. I did this one other time and just used the largest size and went down needle sizes, but I think I’m going to up it to 96 stitches, as he’s got a LOT of hair to accommodate. LOL
12/19 – Finished! I used US5s for the brim and US7s for the body. I added 2 rounds of the gold for contrast in the middle(ish) of the brim, doing the first round of it all knit, then k1, p1 for the second round to avoid seeing the odd colored purl bumps (did the same thing when moving back to the green afterward).
Love how this turned out!
